5 Things To Do This Fall

Hello Beautiful People and happy October! I don’t know about you, but fall is my absolute favorite season. The beautiful foliage and cooler weather make it a perfect time for so much family fun. These next couple of months are packed with ample opportunities to bond with loved ones and embrace the spirit of fall.

I’ve compiled a list of my personal fall favorites. I hope you’re able to check off one, two, or all five on the list this year. Be sure to share photos with me! Happy Fall!

  1. Visit a Pumpkin Patch: Pumpkin patch visits have been an annual tradition for us since our oldest was born. This year marks a decade of this tradition, so it’s a classic for us. From picking out the perfect pumpkin to enjoying hayrides, corn mazes, and other seasonal activities, pumpkin patches offer a great way to create lasting memories and capture some of the sweetest photos. Sidebar: If you’re in need of family photos, pumpkin patches are the perfect backdrop/setting for portrait sessions.
  2. Decorate Your Home for Fall: Fall is a great time to create a cozy and festive atmosphere in your home by decorating with fall colors, textures, and scents. Think pumpkins, leaves, and warm spices. Pro tip: You can find some of the best festive decor at stores like Home Goods, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s for a fraction of what you find in department stores. This year I’ve gone a little sunflower and pumpkin crazy.
  3. Bake Fall Treats: Nothing says fall like fresh-baked pumpkin bread, cinnamon rolls, apple pie, muffins, cookies, and pretty much anything sweet, warm, and delicious. During the fall, my mixer pretty much stays on the countertop. Aside from baking for college football players weekly, I love getting the kids involved in baking. There’s something special about that time we spend measuring, mixing, and baking our fall goodies. If you’re not a baker but still want to get in the kitchen and whip up some fall treats, I recommend a caramel apple bar with all the yummy toppings (both adult and kid approved).
  4. Apple Picking/Sunflower Picking: Depending on your location, many local farms and orchards host weekend events for picking sunflowers or apples. Sunflower picking is a great way to celebrate the season’s vibrant energy, and the sunflower fields make for beautiful photos and videos. You can pick and purchase your own sunflowers to bring home and create stunning bouquets to add to your fall décor. Right now, I have the most beautiful sunflower bouquet on my center island and every time I see it, I get a burst of fall bliss. Apple picking is also a timeless fall activity and it’s perfect for the whole family. You can pick your own apples to bring home and make delicious treats like apple pies or those caramel apples that I’m suddenly craving as I type this.
  5. Attend a Fall Festival or State Fair: Fall festivals and state fairs are fun ways to celebrate the season outdoors with your family. From yummy food and drinks to rides, games, and live entertainment, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. It’s also a wonderful chance to support local vendors and businesses. Check out your local events Facebook pages which often have calendars with these types of local events listed.

So, in addition to indulging in all things pumpkin spice and everything nice, I hope you and your families can enjoy this season. If you have any fun fall activities or festivities to add to the list, please feel free to share with me via email or social media. Until my next blog, continue living life unfiltered.
